The team

Business Energy Scotland is one of the key advice and support services at Energy Saving Trust and is funded by the Scottish Government to provide free and impartial support to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) save energy, carbon, and money. The role    

The assistant programme manager will help coordinate and manage day-to-day operations. By working closely with other teams across Energy Saving Trust, they will develop and establish new processes and procedures across the programme to achieve high levels of customer service, operational efficiency, and performance management.

This role is central to helping the service deliver effective, high-quality advice and support to enable the installation of energy efficiency, low carbon heat and renewables projects, making SMEs more competitive and helping them on their journey towards Net Zero.

What you’ll do  

• Work closely with the Business Energy Scotland programme manager to manage and coordinate operational and change activities towards programme targets.
• Set and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to quality assurance and produce reports to demonstrate impact.
• Drive technical innovation and improvement to advice and support provision.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the programme to continually drive service improvement. 

What you’ll bring  

• Experience of energy efficiency, low-carbon heat, and renewable technologies in buildings.
• Excellent organisation skills. Results orientated with the ability to work independently to deadlines and prioritise work as required.
• Experience of delivering a high standard of customer service.

The team

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our extended hours team as an Energy Advisor, which forms part of Home Energy Scotland’s award winning service, to enable us to support as many householders as possible during the winter period. 

You will be one of three new advisors joining the team and will be responsible for providing energy advice to householders. Home Energy Scotland prides itself on delivering excellent customer service, therefore your passion for customer service and effective delivery of customer journeys is essential. You will speak with a wide range of customers on the phone and online therefore your ability to listen, empathise and help customers to act defines success in this role. 

The role    

You will be responsible for providing energy advice to householders to motivate and enable them to take action to reduce their fuel bills, cut carbon emissions and make their homes warmer and more comfortable via online and digital platforms along with inbound/outbound calls.

We pride ourselves in upskilling our people and we will start to grow your knowledge of our services and energy efficiency straight away. The Home Energy Scotland advisor induction programme is an SQA accredited qualification, as well as this, you will also complete the City and Guilds, Energy Awareness in the Home qualification.

We will support you throughout your training with ongoing mentoring, coaching and development.

Your total working hours will be 27.5 hours a week covering the period of: 4.30pm -8:30pm Monday-Friday and Saturday, 9am-5pm. You will also work on a rota shift to cover the morning shift 8-9am which is paid in addition to your annual salary. The role is home-based therefore you will be able to work remotely anywhere within Scotland. IT equipment will be provided.

What you’ll do  

• Provide advice over many different aspects of loans, grants, and schemes within Scotland.
• Providing world class customer service via email and Inbound/outbound calls in the evenings.
• Cover a wide range of knowledge and support to all areas in Scotland.

What you’ll bring  

• A proven track record of delivering excellent customer service in an advice setting.
• The ability to learn and apply new knowledge quickly.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including ability to communicate technical subject matter clearly and effectively with vulnerable customers.
• Ability to record data accurately while speaking to a customer.
• The ability to work under own initiative with minimal supervision.
• Sound knowledge of using MS Office suite.

The team

The Home Energy Scotland team delivers a free, impartial energy advice service across Scotland. The team supports a network of regional advice centres to help households reduce energy use, cut carbon emissions and lower their bills. We work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation, including our data, digital and customer experience teams, to ensure our services are high-quality, insightful and impactful.

The role    

We’re looking for a proactive and data savvy performance officer to help shape the way we monitor and improve the delivery of Home Energy Scotland.

In this role, you’ll manage the network’s performance reporting cycles and deliver insightful analysis to support strategic decisions and operational improvements.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring our service is responsive, data-driven and accountable, making a real contribution to our mission of addressing the climate emergency.

What you’ll do  

• Lead monthly and quarterly performance reporting for our regional advice centres and Scottish Government.
• Design and develop data visualisations and dashboards to highlight key trends and insights.
• Support the annual programme evaluation process, working closely with advice centres and internal teams.
• Use your analytical skills to help improve our service delivery and inform future strategy.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to define and track key performance indicators.

What you’ll bring  

• Proven experience in data analysis and reporting, with excellent numerical and statistical skills.
• Strong working knowledge of Excel, Power BI, and other analysis or visualisation tools.
• A collaborative mindset and well developed communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly.
• An eye for detail, with a commitment to accuracy and quality in your work.

For the most part, yes. Our default platform is Microsoft Teams, but we can also use Zoom. For some roles, we may conduct in person interviews. We’ll advise you of the format of the interview in the invite.
